Hey Everyone,
Just a reminder that the Spring Art Show is Wednesday May 23rd. You are expected to have a piece of your choice exhibited in this final show. There will be live music, an ice cream sunday station, button maker, and student art auction. As a reminder, attendance at the show is an expected component of your cumulative work for this course. If you have not done so already, please upload your artist statement for your chosen piece to the google doc linked below no later than Wednesday May 10th, so that the Student art committee has time to format your work. Last week you typed out your artist Statement for your innovation project and posted it to your blog along with a photo of this piece.
Once again, for the year end show, you will need to choose a piece to Exhibit. Each piece must have an artist's statement accompany it. Please use the following link to post your statement for the Art Show. The Student Art committee will then type up your statement to follow the art show format. If you are planning on using your 'Social Responsibility' piece in the show, you will need to complete your statement now (despite that the piece is still in progress). Each student should have a statement posted to this piece by the end of the Day on Tuesday May 8th. Thanks you! In Preparation for our upcoming clay lesson, you will need to find a piece of cartboard (approx 12 X12 inches), and cover it in a plastic bag (grocery store bag, or garbage bag etc). Tape the bag on the bottom side of the board, and place your name on the top side of the board. Students who arrive prepared with this board will receive 10 marks. You will need this to store your clay project after building.
See photo below if you are confused, or speak with Ms. Spencer in the morning prior to class starting. If you were away and missed the 'bootcamp' in class. Please watch the following video and then click the button below for your assignment. If you missed my lesson on Visual Journaling, please click and watch the power point below.
“There are no rules for photographs, there are only good photos.” Ansel Adams It is important to know how to take a great photograph. Review the power point on the basics of composition (below). This assignment requires that you illustrate your understanding of composition within photography. Using your phone or a SLR camera you will be required to take a photo that clearly illustrates the compositional guidelines listed below.
Once you have taken the photos, please put them on your Weebly (Blog) You will need to:
Please take a cropped (right to the edges), well lit photo of your three painting bootcamps (colour mixing, brushwork techniques, & water colour techniques), and post all three images to this blog reflection. In a quick reflection, I would like you to answer the following: 1) What bootcamp did you enjoy the most, and why? 2) Which bootcamp did you learn the most? What stood out for you the most in that bootcamp? 3) Which bootcamp do you feel the most proud of / were you the most successful at? If you were away on the final week of Explore, or missed a class last week, we worked on the following:
1) Day 1: Colour mixing 2) Day 2: Brushwork Techniques 3) Day 3: Water Colour Techniques You are responsible for completing these in your sketchbook before moving on. Each will probably take you a class to finish. Click the link below for instructions: If you haven't finished your Personal Narrative project or Artist Statement, please do that before completing these tasks. In the name of INNOVATION (Term 2's project theme) choose 3 of the following five tasks (below) to complete, take a photo of your creation, and post in a slideshow in a new blog post. Use the slideshow button from the side to add a series of images to your post. Tasks to Choose from: 1) Take a sharpie and draw a set of eyes on a scrap piece of paper. Cut them out, and use masking tape to tape them to an inanimate object. Give life to this object by adding the human quality of sight. Take a photo. 2) use a snack or food item to enhance a found image from a magazine or newspaper. Take a photo of the image you have made and post it to your blog. 3) Give people new bodies: Draw a body on a piece of paper and try to match it up with an unsuspecting person. Remember, keep this image appropriate. People are prone to moving around, so you'll have to be quick with your snap. 4) Texture Mapping: Borrow a texture from anywhere around you by using a simple cutout mask. Bricks, grates, fences, bushes, mud, concrete- almost anything can be used! 5) Come up with your own innovative quick creation! Remember, to receive credit for this innovative assignment, you must post your images to a new blog post as a slide show. Have fun! |
