Welcome to 'The Art Smock'!
A little bit about me.... I have a Bachelor of Education from the University of Victoria with a double major in Art Education and Physical Education. I recently took a one year leave to complete my MA from Goldsmiths (University of London) in Artist Teachers and Contemporary Practices. This will be my tenth year teaching at Collingwood School (Wow, time certainly flies!). I love to paint, and have recently been experimenting with large abstract landscapes (using acrylics). I also enjoy fiddling with watercolours, turning travel photos into small illustrations. I have an interest in mapping, and all map related art. I am an aspiring photographer (new camera, but yet to read the manual), obsessive instagrammer, and a big fan of The Jealous Curator (as well as all things related to the UK and /or the Royal Family). Above all else, I am constantly working to improve and broaden my artistic practice (just like you). In the last few years, I've learned that the more I create, the more confidence I have in my own abilities. Don't be afraid to make mistakes. The more we hesitate to create, the more we stifle our abilities to make beautiful things. Get messy, and make ugly, but most importantly, just make. See you in the Studio!
