The Following is an outline of our first unit. It is subject to change, but will give you a rough idea of the direction we are headed / and or lessons you may have missed, or need to catch up on.
Day 1: Observational Contour Drawing Homework: Weebly Construction Day 2: 'Stick Drawing Warm-up' and Gestural Drawing Homework: 'Draw Something and Trash it' Day 3: Composition Techniques Homework: Iphone Composition Challenge (A Blog assignment) Day 4: A one day 'Still Life' Day 5: Loosen up! Line as Expression (Line Drawing, and Mark making) Day 6: Hand Lettering Lesson and mini assignment Days 7-13: Design, Create, and Critique your own artwork based on theme of 'Collections'
Steps: 1. BRAINSTORM: What might your collection entail? (the contents of your medicine cabinet, the shoes in your closet, all of your sports equipment, the contents of your locker, the items in your fridge) -How might you visually catalogue these items? (A poster, a book, a diagram, a still life etc)
Homework: Create a pinterest board of useful images (images that incorporate your chosen medium, artists that inspire you or work along a similar theme, examples of collections (MINIMUM 20 PINS) 2. MATERIAL EXPLORATION: Experiment with, and choose your materials. PLAY! ( 1 Day)
3. PRACTICE and DESIGN, and EXPERIMENT: Bring in Objects from your collection or a series of photos, in order to practice your observational drawing of your chosen collection using your chosen mediums
-Fill a minimum of two pages in your sketchbook, experimenting with your objects, and different approaches to displaying them (1 Day)
4. Prepare your materials and begin to create your final piece!
