By this point, you have completed your first in class composition, a 'one day Still Life'. Take a picture of this drawing and post it to your blog. I would then like you to reflect on your piece.
Please keep in mind that although we haven't had a chance to discuss the writing criteria for your blog yet, I am looking for thoughtful responses, that echo your artistic process. Answer the following: 1)What new media did you choose for this artwork and why did you pick it? 2)Did you discover anything about any of the media you used that you didn't know before? 2)Was the piece successful? Why or why not? 3)What might you do differently next time?

In class today, you completed a one day Still life exercise. This was an exercise in composition, as well as experimentation with new materials.
Tonight, I would like you to continue your drawing from observation skills. Find an object at home and draw it. When you are finished, crumple the paper up and toss it aside. Repeat this step three more times, each time, crumpling your paper. When you have finished four attempts of the same object, uncrumple each drawing and lay them out in front of you. Are there any which your prefer over others? Did your observation skills improve with practice? Place the drawings in an order that appeals to you, and glue into your sketchbook in that order. We will be looking at this mini assignment at the start of next class. Today in class, I taught a lesson on the basics of composition. Tonight I would like you to use your iphone in order to create three different compositions. You can set up mini still lifes, or compose pictures, but the three compositions must follow three DIFFERENT rules that were covered in class. You must then post your three images to your blog, explaining each photo, and how it pertains to a particular rule of composition. Reminder of the rules we covered: -Using the triangle -Using the rule of thirds -Using the circle -Using the golden section LASTLY, AS PROMISED......the 'How to Draw a Perfect Circle Freehand' video.
